Himachal Pradesh is Tripcamps’ most diverse region for trekking difficulty in one place. Around Dharamshala and Manali, treks like Triund and Beas Kund make for accessible one- to three-day introductions to Himalayan trekking. Deeper into the Kullu and Parvati valleys, trails to Kheerganga, Sar Pass, and Bhrigu Lake step up the altitude and effort. And for experienced trekkers, high-altitude crossings like Hampta Pass and Pin Parvati Pass link green Himachal valleys to the cold desert landscapes of Spiti and Lahaul.
The state’s trekking season generally runs May to October, with a distinct split: snow treks like Sar Pass and Hampta Pass are best attempted in the late-spring snow window (May–June) or post-monsoon (September), while high passes like Pin Parvati are only viable in peak summer (July–August) when the route is clear of snow.
Manali, Kasol, and Bir are the main trekking bases, all well connected by road from Delhi and Chandigarh, with a wide network of local guides and homestays supporting most routes.
