Sri Lanka packs an outsized trekking variety into a compact hill country at the island’s centre — nowhere else in the Tripcamps collection can a trekker realistically cover a sacred pilgrimage peak, a misty cloud-forest range, and a string of tea-plantation ridgelines all within the same week, without ever taking an internal flight.

Tripcamps covers three regions here: the Central Highlands, home to Adam’s Peak’s overnight pilgrimage climb and the plateau grasslands of Horton Plains and World’s End; the Knuckles Range, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of cloud forest and remote villages that sees a fraction of the hill country’s usual visitor numbers; and the Ella and Uva Highlands, where short, scenic day hikes wind between tea estates and colonial-era viewpoints. Most treks here are shorter and gentler than the Himalaya or the Andes, making Sri Lanka one of the most approachable entries in the Tripcamps collection — though Adam’s Peak’s pre-dawn pilgrimage crowds and the Knuckles’ remoteness both reward proper planning.
